as放在句首，可以引导：

1 时间状语从句，表示两个同步发展的动作或行为,译为"随着……"。

例如：

As time went on / by, she became more and more worried

随着时间的流失，她越发担心

As children get older, they become more and more interested in the things around them

随着年龄的增长，他们对周围的事物越感兴趣。

2 原因状语从句，作"既然"、"由于"解，相当于since，常用来表示已为人们所知或显而易见的原因或理由，

例如：

As you're not feeling well, you may stay at home

既然你身体不好,你还是留在家里吧

此外，as还可以引导方式状语从句、比较状语从句、让步状语从句、定语从句等，但在句中的位置比较灵活，不一定在句首。
